Supporting the use of vaccines through Art

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation as introduced a new initiative known as the Art of Saving a Life project. This project will brings together more than 30 world-renowned musicians, writers, filmmakers, painters, sculptors and photographers from around the world to demonstrate how vaccines can help kids improve immunity and grow up safe from preventable diseases.

The major intention of the Art of Saving a Life project is to offer an opportunity for people to hear, see and feel the incredible impact of immunization and to boost global efforts to protect every child from life-threatening diseases. The art pieces are said to be released throughout January 2015.

The Art of Saving a Life idea came from Christine McNab, a consultant to the foundation. In brainstorming new ways to promote vaccines, she considered “what makes me cry, what makes me think,” she said. “It’s films, it’s books, it’s galleries.”

Chris Elias, president of the Global Development Program at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation stated that "We hope this project will inspire conversations about the incredible value and importance of immunizations worldwide."
