Finding Love Again is an African love story that depicts the challenges of dating, commitment and the celebration of falling in love again. The book tells the story of a young poet/radio presenter who was jilted on her wedding day.

At the beginning of the book, Kambi is seen anxiously awaiting the arrival of her fiancé, who is thought to be running late for their wedding but, as it turned out her husband-to-be appeared to have eloped with her maid of honor or rather maid of dishonor. Kambi is very upset with her fiancé, Victor and her mother who is friends with Victor’s mother and had introduced her to him.

The next scene shows Kambi arriving at the Obudu mountain resort in Cross Rivers State where she decides to take a break after tremendous persuasion from her boss at the radio station she worked and her agent, who is trying to get her a book deal for her poems. Determined to do whatever it takes to forget her previous disappointment, and focus on writing more poems, Kambi obliged to the holiday and tries to make the best of it.

On arrival at the ranch, Kambi runs into an old flame who she didn’t give a chance back in the university they both attended. But, as faith will have it Beba, a half-cast man from Cross Rivers State was helping his cousin, Bem to supervise the resort.

Kambi enjoys catching up with Beba and their friendship gradually blossoms into affection for each other. Kambi, as an independently strong woman battles with showing her affection for Beba without falling shot on writing her poems. But, unknown to her Beba, has a hiding agenda for getting close to her. Kambi soon finds out the reason and decides to play along with it hoping for the best.

Kambi agrees to be Beba fake fiancée in other for him to obtain information about his birth mother from his father, while she fights the love she now feels for him. Kambi finally decides to go back to her life and hopes that Beba will recognized that she has developed deep affection for him.

Finding Love Again is definitely a well written and satisfying romantic story, that illustrates the emotions of been rejected and also encourages forgiveness and moving on.

As a footnote, the book is an easy, witty and fulfilling read for anyone with an interest in a well told love story about everyday challenges and love in Nigeria.

It was a little too passionately expressive as I felt as if I was reading a Danielle Steel romance novel. Nonetheless, Finding Love Again is an intense and moving story, about not giving up on love and I have no hesitation in recommending it highly.

The novel had an emotionally satisfying and hopeful ending, as any romantic novel should.
