American comedian and film star, Groucho Marx is rumoured to have said, “Outside of a dog, a book is man’s best friend.Inside of a dog it’s too dark to read”, but he obviously never read a book on his smartphone.

You have probably heard that sales of ebooks are rapidly gaining on paper books. But did you know that an increasing number of people are reading ebooks not just on special ebook readers or even tablet computers, but also on their smartphones? For many, having smartphones mean never being more than a few feet from the latest page-turner.

Winner of 2015 Man Booker prize announced

On Tuesday the 13th of October 2015, Marlon James a Jamaican writer was awarded the overall prize and winner of the 2015 Man Booker which comes with a cash prize of £50,000.
 

The Guardian UK reports that Marlon will be honored with a special postmark from the Royal Mail which will be applied to millions of letters around the UK.

Uzodinma Iweala's book 'Beasts of No Nation' movie adaptation premiere's in Hollywood

Beasts of No Nation movie,  an adaptation of Uzodinma Iweala’s 2005 novel premiered in Hollywood yesterday October 13th.

The movie is about a young West African boy name Agu who is forced to join a unit of mercenary fighters when civil war tears his family apart. Abraham Attah play the role of the young boy while, Idris Elba  plays an African warlord known as the Commandant, who attempts to transform Agu into a ruthless killer.

The 2015 Man Booker literary prize winner to be announced Oct 13

The Man Booker International Prize was established in 2005, biannually rewarding authors for a body of work originally written in any language as long as it's widely available in English. 

The literary Prize which is considered one of the world's most prestigious literary awards, will be announcing the winner of the 2015 prize on Tuesday, October 13 in London Guildhall at a black-tie dinner that brings together the shortlisted authors and well-known figures from the literary world. The ceremony will be broadcast by the BBC.
