Tecno Nigeria in association with Africa Magic have announced the Tecno ‘Own The Stage’ Karaoke Competition which will attract talented singers across the continent to battle for a prize of $500,00 and an opportunity to record a song and go on tour with renowned musical act such as Yemi Alade.
To enter the competition, the contestant has to visit the Tecno ‘Own The stage’ website – www.tecnoownthestage.com and select a track from the list. The contestant will record a Karaoke rendition and upload the track via the submission form on the website. The uploaded track is then subjected to a review by the judges who will select the top entries and the selected contestants will be notified directly.
“We want to be able to enrich people’s lives, make them fulfil their hopes and dreams. There are lots of people that don’t have opportunities to make it big” said Oye Akideinde, General Manager Operations Divison Mobile Apps of Tecno Mobile at a press conference where the competition and judges were introduced.
The
contest is open to Kenya, Tanzania and Nigeria. To enter the
competition, contestants have to record and upload their favourite
tracks on www.tecnoownthestage.com. The judges will then select the best
renditions after which those selected will be invited to the audition
phase of the show. Auditions will be held in Lagos, Dar Es Salaam and
Nairobi.
The
second runner up will get $10,000 and a Tecno Phantom 5 phone, the
first runner up will get $15,000, a Phantom 5 phone and a three months
internship with an established music label. The winner of first season
of “Own The Stage” will receive $25,000, the opportunity to record a
song with any of the show’s judges, shoot a music video and go on tour
with an established musician.
The Tecno “Own The Stage” competition will begin to airs from October 25, 2015 on Africa Magic Urban.
